Pushing for Progress: Making Caulfield Station Accessible
Over the past month, locals have come together to call for something long overdue — a fully accessible Caulfield Station. We’ve been advocating for upgrades that would make this major interchange safe, inclusive, and fit for the future.
Crowds bottleneck at the fare gates as multiple trains arrive. A second concourse would ease the pressure.
Caulfield is one of Melbourne’s busiest stations — a vital connection point for students, commuters, and visitors alike. But many people still can’t use it safely. If you use a wheelchair, rely on a walker, push a pram, or are carrying heavy bags, the steep ramps and lack of lifts can turn a simple trip into a real barrier.
Our campaign has struck a chord. We’ve now received over 500 signatures on our petition, with heartfelt stories pouring in from locals who’ve faced real struggles just trying to get to a platform.
We were recently invited to speak about the campaign on Golden Days Radio 95.7FM, a station serving Melbourne’s south-east. It was a great chance to explain the issue in plain terms and highlight just how many people are affected.

As part of our campaign we’ve reached out to local MPs and the Department of Transport and Planning. While they’ve acknowledged the issue, their responses have mostly pointed to past upgrades — a new wheelchair shelter, CCTV, and a hearing loop.
Those improvements are a great — but they miss the point. You still can’t reach the train unless you can use a steep ramp.
So, how can you help?
We’re aiming to reach 1,000 signatures this month, and every one counts. If you haven’t already:

The best time to upgrade Caulfield Station was years ago.
The second-best time? Right now.
